Early black mark examples of Cardium
on Coral. Cardium on Coral No. 3 (Degenhardt number
D257) on left, 3-3/8ths inches high with pink tint and
first black mark (1863-1890), and Cardium on Coral
No. 4 (Degenhardt number D256) on right, 4-1/2 inches
high, untinted, with second black mark (1891-1926).
There were four sizes of Cardium
on Coral produced by Belleek, and the largest (which
Richard Degenhardt christened "Number Four"
in his invaluable reference) was produced right up into
the 1980s (and possibly beyond) as Belleek's item number
434.
