This Nile Vase is
the large size (Degenhardt number D84) and has a third
black mark (1926-1946), which makes it contemporary with
the Art Deco period, and possibly explains the unique
color scheme. The palette uses the "standard"
Belleek tints, indicating that it was almost certainly
decorated by the factory, however the overall painting
scheme is unique. Neither Belleek authority Marion Langham,
nor authorities at the Belleek pottery itself, have seen
this unique decoration on any other examples of the Nile
vase. This special find was purchased at a local antiques
fair by Paul and Elaine in 1993.
