black mark examples of Belleek's Fish Spill
(Degenhardt reference number D184), ranging in
height from 7-1/8 inches to 7-1/4 inches. The
unpainted example at right above also features
the British registration diamond-shaped pad.
The example below at left sold
on eBay in April of 2002 for USD $535 and was
described as follows:

First Period Belleek (Co Fermanagh,
Northern Ireland) porcelain spill vase,
in the form of a flying fish leaping
above foaming waves, covered in soft
pearlescent glaze, impressed and black
printed marks, also design registration
mark for 4th March 1870. This piece
is in excellent condition, it has a
single extremely small chip on edge
of rim at extreme bottom and a couple
of extremely tiny flecks, general condition
report is excellent. This item stands
just over 7.5 inches tall. Rare and
superb piece." |
